I rejoiced with those who said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD." -Psalm 122:1
The leadership at Calvary Baptist Church is happy to announce that we have a plan in place that will allow us to gather once again for worship on Sunday mornings beginning May 17. This plan follows guidelines from our state and national governments and provides what we believe is the safest way for us to be able to worship together. In order for this plan to work, we need all of our membership to please familiarize yourself with these guidelines and then to please follow them when you come. The approach that we will be taking in gathering together will be a step by step process. Here are the guidelines for the first phase of our plan.
There will be two services offered for Sunday morning worship. The first service will be at 9am in the Fellowship Hall and will be for those who are 60 years old and older or for those who have compromised immune systems. The second service will be at 11am in the Sanctuary for families and those who are under 60. The 11am service will continue to be livestreamed for home viewing as well. These services will be shorter services than normal and will each be capped at 50 attendees. In order for us to keep from having to turn people away at the door, we STRONGLY ENCOURAGE those who meet the parameters for the first service to please attend the first service NOT the second service. There will only be one entrance open for each service as well. For the first service the East Entrance will be the place attendees will enter and leave the building. For the second service the Main Sanctuary Doors will be where attendees enter and exit. You will not be able to enter the building at any other entrance other than these designated entrances.
We ask that while you are attending the worship services, you continue to observe social distancing protocols. Please abstain from any physical contact such as handshakes, hugs, or high-fives. We ask families to please sit together and to maintain a safe social distance from other families and attendees. Our Sunday School classes will not begin to meet again during this first phase because of the difficulty in keeping social distance protocols in our smaller rooms. We are still able to offer Children's Church during both services for those 2nd grade and under and have the ability to keep these protocols in place. We will be implementing safe practices for health and safety of our children if they choose to attend. Upon entering the building there will be Children’s Ministry Volunteers looking for children eligible to go to Children’s Church. They will take them, with parent permission, to Children’s Church before the services begin. Children will not be dismissed to Children’s Church during the services. After the service, a parent will need to pick up the child from Children’s Church. No child will be released without a parent there to pick them up. The nursery will remain closed during this first phase except for those who are volunteering or working during the service(s).
We want to encourage you to wear a mask if you feel most comfortable in doing so. We will not be providing any masks, so if you wish to wear one please be sure and bring your own. There are several places in town providing them and even some members who would be more than happy to assist you with that as well. As time progresses some of these restrictions will begin to be lifted and we will slowly be getting back to normal.
We know you are excited about gathering together once again and so is your church leadership. Our desire is to provide a safe environment in which we can worship the Lord our God together. Your help in attending the appropriate service and observing these social distance protocols will go a long way in making this happen. We ask your continued prayer and support as we get ready to meet once again.
